Start Chapter 1 through Story Mode. Your goal is to follow the live objectives through the underground Fathom Amusement park, survive Grinsworth, and reach the chapter’s final choice. Progress saves automatically, so follow the objective shown in your current server instead of copying an outdated room-by-room list after an update.
The chapter has four relevant completion goals: Chapter 1 Complete, Go Home, Go Deeper, and Untouchable. The first three can be planned around the ending; Untouchable is best attempted after you already understand the dangerous sections because it requires finishing without losing a life.
Prepare before starting Story Mode
Choose solo or a party of up to four before entering. A party can divide observation and objective reading, but every extra player adds footsteps, chat, and possible microphone sound. Agree on brief callouts and a silence signal. If someone wants a blind story experience, settle spoiler expectations before watching a walkthrough or discussing the final branch.
Check audio, microphone permission, camera movement, and the current action prompts in a safe area. FATHOM’s official page confirms that Grinsworth can react to footsteps, chat, and microphone voice, but it does not publish a universal sound threshold or complete control map. Use the prompts on your device rather than assuming a desktop key applies to mobile or controller.
Treat the grapple, camera flash, and lockers as distinct tools. The grapple is for creating distance through a valid route. The flash is for a close interruption when the camera can face the threat. A locker is a hiding option that depends on staying quiet. Do not exhaust both active tools during the same panic unless the first escape has clearly failed.
Follow objectives without losing the route
At each new objective, pause and identify three things: the interaction point, a nearby landmark, and the direction you will retreat if Grinsworth appears. After the interaction, reread the objective before leaving. That small reset prevents the common mistake of running deeper into the park while still following the previous instruction.
Keep the group close enough to share information but not packed into one doorway. One player can read the prompt while another watches the last corridor. If the team separates, agree on a fixed landmark for regrouping; repeated voice calls to find one another may create more danger than the separation itself.
Automatic saving means you can recover progress, but the public description does not define the exact checkpoint grain. Do not assume an item use, no-life-loss condition, or final choice has saved until the game confirms it. If a disconnect occurs, rejoin and inspect the active objective before repeating any interaction.
Survive Grinsworth during the chapter
The official description says Grinsworth climbs walls and crawls through vents, so a route that looks safe at ground level may not block him. Listen and look before standing still beneath an opening. Avoid treating a closed-looking angle as permanent protection.
When pursuit starts, commit to a route rather than zigzagging around teammates. Use the grapple when it can pull you toward open space or vertical separation. Save the camera flash for a moment when Grinsworth is in front of you and the interruption will create an actual exit. Enter a locker only when you can stop making sound; hiding while the whole party continues talking defeats the point of the mechanic.
After escaping, do not immediately sprint back to the objective. Let the team regroup, count remaining tools, and approach from a direction everyone understands. Exact stun duration, grapple distance, locker detection, and hearing range need live testing, so visual and audio feedback in the current run should overrule a memorized number.
Plan the ending choice and badges
The official badge catalog names two ending decisions. Go Home says that you chose to go home, while Go Deeper says that you chose to go deeper. Those descriptions confirm the branch but do not reveal the exact story consequences or whether the choice can be changed without replaying content.
Near the end of Chapter 1, slow down whenever the game presents choice language. Read the full prompt and make sure the intended player is controlling the selection. If a group wants both badges, decide whether to replay together or split the choice across separate runs. The current public badge data does not prove that one player’s choice awards the same badge to every teammate.
For Untouchable, treat any lost life as a failed attempt even if a revive or pass lets the run continue. That is the strict reading of the official condition. The game does not publicly explain whether a teammate’s death, Infinite Lives, or reconnect affects the badge, so a clean solo completion or a coordinated no-death group is the lowest-risk plan.
Watch a current walkthrough when the route is unclear
This 19-minute Chapter 1 run is useful for visual orientation and the order of major scenes. Use it to recognize spaces and decision points, then follow the objective text in your own server because updates can move prompts or change timing.
If you want to compare an ending or recover from a route mismatch, two other current uploads are titled FATHOM Chapter 1 Full Walkthrough (Roblox) and Full Walkthrough + All Endings. Treat community footage as a visual aid, not an official rulebook.
Recover from common failures
If the objective appears stuck, first verify that every required player has reached the area and that the intended interaction completed. Recheck the current prompt, then return to the last clear landmark. Rejoining should be a last resort because it can change the server state and may affect a no-life-loss attempt.
If Grinsworth repeatedly catches the team at one point, change one variable per attempt. Reduce voice, choose a cleaner retreat, reserve the flash for that section, or send fewer players into the interaction space. Changing everything at once makes it impossible to know which adjustment worked.
If the ending badge does not award, confirm the badge is enabled on Roblox and inspect the run’s final choice. Do not assume the general Chapter 1 Complete badge guarantees either branch badge. The endings guide keeps the two conditions separate, while the Untouchable guide focuses on clean-run preparation.
