FATHOM Chapter 1 Endings Guide

Understand the confirmed Go Home and Go Deeper branches, prepare the final choice, plan both badges and avoid unsupported claims about FATHOM's endings.

Chapter 1 has two confirmed choice badges: Go Home and Go Deeper. Their official descriptions prove that the ending asks whether you leave or continue deeper. They do not publicly document the exact selection point, every story consequence, or whether a saved checkpoint lets you switch branches immediately.

Finish the chapter once for the broad Chapter 1 Complete badge and one ending. Then check your badge inventory and plan the opposite branch if needed. Let the full ending sequence finish before leaving the server.

What each badge confirms

Go Home uses Badge ID 342709045766631 and the developer description: “You chose to go home. Nobody leaves for long.” The October 30 API snapshot recorded 40,510 awards and a displayed 5.8% rate.

Go Deeper uses Badge ID 2216237297532 and the description: “You chose to go deeper. He is glad you stayed.” The same snapshot recorded 66,021 awards and a displayed 9.4% rate.

The different totals do not prove that Go Home is harder. They may reflect player preference, prompt order, repeat runs, or when each choice became popular.

Prepare the final decision

Before starting Story Mode, decide whether the run is blind or badge-focused. A blind player can choose naturally and check the badge afterward. A completion group should agree on the target so one person does not click while others expect the opposite result.

Near the end, slow down whenever the game presents choice language. Read the entire prompt and confirm who controls the selection. Avoid typing or talking over the moment because Grinsworth’s sound mechanic can still influence the surrounding run.

Do not leave immediately after selecting. Allow the story, save, and badge award to finish. Public sources do not identify the exact award frame, so waiting through the complete ending is safer than treating the first animation as completion.

Plan to collect both endings

After the first completion, check the Roblox badge inventory. If one branch is missing, return to Story and target the opposite choice. Automatic story saving may reduce repeated progress, but the official description does not guarantee a direct branch-select screen.

Be prepared to replay part or all of the route. Use the second run to conserve tools and shorten communication. A familiar Chapter 1 path should be more reliable than trying to manipulate an uncertain checkpoint.

If the party splits choices across separate runs, each player should confirm credit on their own account. The badge catalog does not state whether the selector, all surviving players, or every party member receives the ending badge.

Keep completion and Untouchable separate

Chapter 1 Complete marks the broad finish. Go Home and Go Deeper mark a decision. Untouchable marks a no-life-loss completion. One badge does not replace the others.

You can combine Untouchable with an ending attempt if the route is already consistent, but do not risk a rare clean run while the group is still debating the branch. Choose the ending before starting and treat any lost life as a reset.

Infinite Lives may keep a story run going, yet a recovered death does not satisfy the strict Untouchable wording. The ending choice can still be useful for Go Home or Go Deeper even when the no-life-loss goal fails.

Avoid unsupported ending claims

The official descriptions do not reveal the full plot after either choice. Do not assume Go Deeper is the only “true” ending, that Go Home locks future chapters, or that one branch gives a permanent gameplay benefit. Those claims need current in-game evidence or a creator announcement.

An official Chapter 2 event exists and uses language about going deeper, but an event tagline does not by itself redefine the Chapter 1 badge conditions. Follow the live Story prompt and the badge descriptions.

Community walkthroughs can show where the choice appeared in one build. Use them for visual orientation while accepting that updates may move timing, prompts, or checkpoint behavior.

Troubleshoot missing ending credit

Confirm the correct badge is enabled, the intended branch was selected, and the full ending finished. Check whether the account already owns the badge and whether Roblox’s inventory display has refreshed.

If a group member is missing credit, record who selected, who survived, and who reached the final area. That creates a useful repeatable test without inventing a team rule from one failure.

Do not replay immediately if you are unsure which branch the run took. Read the badge description and compare the actual choice first. A precise second attempt is better than another ambiguous completion.

Spoiler-light completion route

  1. Enter Story Mode and follow the current Chapter 1 objectives.
  2. Preserve at least one escape tool for late pursuits.
  3. Regroup before the final sequence.
  4. Read the choice prompt and select the target branch.
  5. Let the ending and award sequence finish.
  6. Check Chapter 1 Complete plus Go Home or Go Deeper.
  7. Plan the opposite branch only after confirming what is missing.
